Born 1967 in Tehran-Iran. She lives in exile in Germany since 1985. She studied German literature, theatre- film and television studies and pedagogy at the Goethe University in Frankfurt (graduation of Master of Arts degree, 1994).
In the same year she founded the theatre group “Daritsche” and since then has staged 25 plays and also written many plays and articles about theatre.
The themes of her work are women, exile, human figures and foreign bodies, reworking literary texts into plays, experiments in documentary and political theatre.
Her plays have been performed more than 400 times in Europe, the United States and Canada. She is one of the most active Iranian theatre makers in exile and has received several awards.
For many years she has been committed to and writes for women’s and human rights as well as the rights of the LGBTQ community and religious minorities, especially the Baha’i community in Iran.
Her latest play “the father behind a glass, the nameless tombstones and Mahsa (Zhina), daughter of Iran” (performed on November 12th, 2022 in Cologne) is about the current situation of the Iranian protest movement and its texts were compiled from twitter posts and diaries of some protesters.
