MAIRI CAMERON is an AACTA nominated director of film and television and head of the Australian Directors Guild’s Queensland Chapter. Her psychological thriller The Second was the first Stan Originals feature film produced in Australia and released theatrically and on
Stan in 2018. The Second was nominated for an AACTA, a Logie Award, and SPAA Feature Film of the Year. Following the success of The Second, Mairi was offered an ADG Shadow Directing opportunity on Hoodlum Entertainment’s procedural drama series Harrow in 2019. A year later, Hoodlum invited her to return to direct a block of Season 3 Harrow, and in 2021 Mairi directed a block of CJZ and Acorn TV’s romantic mystery series Darby and Joan starring Bryan Brown and Greta Scacchi.
Prior to her career in long form drama, Mairi graduated with a Masters of Directing from AFTRS and a graduation film Milk that was selected for official competition in Cannes, Bilbao and Palm Springs. Before she turned her attention to long form drama, she was a successful director of television commercials and music videos working with Australian music artists Washington, Kate Miller-Heidke and Sarah Blasko. She won a J Award (Australian Music Video of the Year) for Washington’s Sunday Best in 2010. Mairi still directs commercials in between long form gigs and has recently co-directed prestigious tourism spots for both the city of Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
Over the past decade Mairi has developed a range of long form projects as a director and
producer including a feature film adaptation of the American novel The Secret Lives of Dresses. She is attached to direct arthouse drama feature film Age of Chaos with producers Trish Lake and US-based Daria Jovicic. Both films are set for production in
2024-25.
